There's a great opportunity to deepen your practice coming up in February 2016 — Jessica Walden is set to visit Portland to conduct a workshop on the bandhas! What are they, why do we want to know about the, and to paraphrase George Clinton, how do we know if we're shaking them correctly?
The workshop will be held at Yoga on Yamhill on Saturday, February 13 from 9 to noon. The fee to reserve your mat space is $49, and the event is open to anyone with some yoga background. The workshop will consist of discussion, a breathing practice, and a complementary asana sequence rooted in the Ashtanga tradition. We'll the session with conversation and questions and answers. Visit the page for more specifics. You can also visit Jessica's page Jessica-Walden.com to see what she's about — she's got lots of great photos and YouTube tutorials. Jessica also did a great interview podcast with Ashtanga Dispatch. Among other topics she discusses how she has addressed a terrifying degenerative back condition. You can find the podcast here. Jess has practiced Ashtanga since 1994, and was Authorized (capital "A") by Sharath in 2008. She has two terrific sons (as well as a yippy dog, so like 2-and-a-half sons) and works full-time — and on top of all this, she remains warm, funny and quite a goofball. Her dedication, perseverance, and consistency give her some great insights and inspiration to share. I hope you can make it!
