--LED PRIMARY SERIES CLASS: THURSDAY, FEB. 27!
There's nothing quite like practicing together. Plus it helps soften those unconscious edges of our practice. With that in mind, there will be a led Primary Series class held the last Friday of every month. This will begin Thursday, February 27. Friday, February 28 is a moon day. There will be just one session: 6-7:20a.m. Please arrive prior to class start time. If there is more interest, I may add a second, later session. (Upcoming led primary classes will be held on March 28, April 25, and May 30.) When I first began learning the Ashtanga sequence, I asked my teacher, Tim Miller, if he thought I could attend his Tuesday morning led Primary Series class. At the time I did not know the entire series, and was uncertain about the order and sequence of the postures that I did know. "Well," he said, "There's nothing like jumping into the deep end." So let's go off the deep-end together (uh ...?). All levels welcome; no additional charge for this class. ---LED PRIMARY CLASS BENEFIT FOR LIVING YOGA The led Primary Series classes on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, March 28 will be donation-based classes, with all proceeds donated to Living Yoga. Living Yoga is a Portland-based non-profit that brings the study and practice of yoga to youth and adults who are behind bars, or in drug and alcohol treatment programs. Come to the class, and if you can donate, too, that would be great! I suggest a donation of $20, approximate to the cost of a drop-in at a studio. David has practiced Ashtanga since 1973, when he began learning this system from Pattabhi Jois at his home in Mysore, India. He was the first non-Indian to be taught the complete Ashtanga Yoga system of asanas and pranayama directly from Jois. David also introduced Ashtanga to the West when he brought Jois to the U.S. for the first time in 1975. More info and enrollment at Yoga on Yamhill LINK: http://bit.ly/1gyJjTL
